New wireless M-Bus gateway wMGW-PoE
With the new wMGW-PoE, the wireless connection of M-Bus installations is effortlessly achieved. The robust gateway uses the proven radio standard according to DIN EN 13757-4, supports AES encryption and can be flexibly mounted: on the mounting rail, on the wall or on a mast. Thanks to Power over Ethernet and simple web server configuration, the device is ideally suited for building automation, industrial applications and mechanical engineering – and remains reliable in use even at ambient temperatures from -10 °C to +50 °C.

STV Electronic presents wireless M-Bus gateway

Transmit M-Bus data wirelessly

Schloß-Holte, September 25, 2025 – With a new gateway, STV Electronic offers a simple way to connect M-Bus installations wirelessly. The device supports the M-Bus standard for wireless communication in accordance with DIN EN 13757-4.

The M-Bus has established itself as a fieldbus for the serial connection of various meter types. One of the reasons for this is the simple and reverse polarity protection installation. In addition, the devices and the entire technology are inexpensive and enable numerous metering applications, for example in building automation, mechanical engineering or in industry. If a connection via the simple two-wire lines is no longer possible, the wireless version of the M-Bus can be used. The new wMGW-PoE is suitable for this, which as a gateway uses wireless communication in accordance with DIN EN 13757-4 with a carrier frequency of 868 MHz (wM-Bus Mode S, R, T, C). AES encryption is supported. The supply voltage can be easily supplied with Power over Ethernet, which enables installation with a standard Ethernet cable via an RJ45 connector. The gateway has a wired M-Bus manager interface that can read data from the meters connected there with transmission rates from 300 to 38,400 baud. The wired communication takes place in accordance with DIN EN 13757-3. The gateway supports MQTT and – as is usual with STV’s IP devices – has an integrated web server via which parameterisation and commissioning can be carried out very easily and conveniently.

Robust for a wide range of applications

The new wireless gateway is housed in a robust plastic installation housing with ingress protection (IP) IP40. This is suitable for DIN rail mounting as well as mounting on a wall or mast. The ambient temperature can be in the range of -10 °C to +50 °C. This means that the gateway can also be used without any problems in harsh environmental conditions, for example in industry.
